Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport makes long-term commitment to the environment
Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport, operated by VINCI Airports since 2004, has gained version 2015 of ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system, enabling it to reduce the ecological footprint of its activities sustainably over the long term. The certification also guarantees the regulatory conformity of the airport’s activities in terms of its environment, as well as the commitment of its employees and partners.
Securing this certification is one of the objectives of the AirPact environmental performance strategy initiated by VINCI Airports in 2015 and rolled out to all the network’s airports.
This shared goal is fully integrated into Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc Airport’s development policy, in particular through three actions aimed at reducing the impact of its activities:
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions – the airport secured Level 1 Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) in December 2015, which confirmed that its carbon footprint assessment was robust.
• Manage energy consumption – the airport installed LED lighting across a large part of its site in 2019 to reduce electricity consumption.
• Improve waste recycling – the airport has conducted awareness campaigns targeting employees and third parties.
In addition, the airport is monitoring the presence of flora and fauna on its site with a view to helping to conserve biodiversity.
