COVID-19: Grenoble and Chambéry airports mobilize to repatriate tourists
In France, following the unexpected closure announcement of the alpine ski resorts in the context of a COVID-19 epidemic, teams from VINCI Airports have quickly reacted and have worked closely with partner airlines and tour operators to enable tourists to return home. Thus, between 14 and 16 March, Grenoble Alpes Isère airport welcomed 72 flights, seven of which were entirely chartered for repatriation, for 2,000 people. Since 16 March, more than 3,500 English tourists have been repatriated home thanks to flights from Chambery, via Grenoble and Lyon airports or by coach.
Since then, both airports remain open to carry out their public service mission: repatriation flights for French nationals, medical evacuations, etc.
