London Gatwick in support to the UK’s national effort against the spread of the coronavirus
In order to help slowing the outbreak in the UK, London Gatwick airport announces the use of its long-stay car park as a drive-through testing centre for frontline health workers.
Initially for use by National Health Service (NHS) staff and invited key workers, the airport facility which is big enough to be able to host such a large-scale operation, opened on Wednesday 8 April and is available between 09:00 am 5:00 pm daily, on an appointment-only basis. This new service will help end the uncertainty of whether NHS and social care staff need to stay at home meaning those who test negative will be able to return to work.
Alongside, the airport keeps open to support repatriation flights, amongst others.
Like London Gatwick, VINCI Airports network has been mobilizing for several weeks to help in the fight against the spread of the Covid-19.
