Phnom Penh, Best Asia Pacific regional Airport!
The Phnom Penh International Airport, one of the first members of VINCI Airports’ network, has been awarded by the CAPA Centre of Aviation, best Asia Pacific regional airports for smaller airports category (fewer than 10 million annual passengers). The independent panel of judges has recognized it as “the regional airport that has established itself as a leader and done the most to advance the progress of the aviation industry.”
This award distinguishes the choice of the airport for “adopting an innovative strategy” that has led to sustained passenger growth of more than 25% over two years (2017/2018) and of 15% in Q1-Q3. CAPA also underscores “the very rapid completion of works” pertaining to the runway, “thereby expanding the potential for new long haul services”, and the airport’s contribution (together with the two other airports in Siem Reap and in Sihanoukville) to Cambodia’s total GDP and to creating jobs.
According to Alain Brun, CEO of Cambodia Airports, Phnom Penh International Airport, as a small airport, benefits from an ability to easily adapt and respond to customers’ needs. This award also highlights the relevance of the pioneer airport Public Private Partnership initiated 25 years ago by VINCI Airports.
