Record 10 million passengers handled through Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport

Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport has reached a new record in terms of traffic with over 10 million passengers travelling through the airport in 2017.

After Santiago and Porto airports, which respectively exceeded 20 and 10 million passengers, Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport has now reached its own record.

The Chairman of Aéroports de Lyon's Board of Director, Tanguy Bertolus, welcomed the 10 millionth passenger saying, “I am very proud to celebrate this event today. It is the result of the work by all Lyon airport's teams and our partners to make Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport the main gateway to the Lyon region.

This milestone reflects the Lyon Airport growth after having inaugured the new 70,000 square metre Terminal 1 Hall B in October 2017 to handle the steady growth in the number of passengers handled each year.

Over 10 new routes and seven new destinations were added in 2017, including St Petersburg, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Essaouira and Oujda. The New Year 2018 will continue in the same vein with the opening of four routes each by Transavia (Palermo, Djerba, Malaga and Catania), easyJet (Corfu, Fuerteventura, Tel Aviv and Rennes) and Volotea (Alicante, Cagliari, Majorca and Palermo).
