Salvador airport welcomes new direct flights to Santiago during summer
Salvador airport will have a new international destination this summer, with direct flights between the capital of Bahia and Santiago, Chile, operated by GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, for a better connection between the two airports of the VINCI Airports' network.
A few days after VINCI Airports taking over operations of Salvador airport, on January 2nd, a new flight was inaugurated between Salvador and Santiago, two airports of our network, which departed in a Boeing 737-800.
This new route will meet demand of the high summer season and will operate between January and February. It reinforces the objective of VINCI Airports to expand the development of air traffic of the Bahian capital. "Salvador has a lot of tourism potential. As well as being one of the most sought after destinations for Brazilian and international tourists, the demand of Bahians for international flights has also grown and needs to be met" said Julio Ribas, CEO of the concessionaire.
After two initial transition phases, during which VINCI Airports prepared and started implementing its transition plan while Infraero continued running the airport with its assistance, on January 2nd VINCI Airports officially became the operator of Salvador airport, in Brazil. During this third and final transition stage, which could last up to 6 months, the new concessionaire will be assisted by Infraero, to guarantee a gradual succession.
