VINCI Airports and start-ups worldwide, a close relationship focused on innovation
Start-ups and entrepreneurs from around the world gathered at London Gatwick Airport to participate in an open exchange on the future of air travel and the airport industry.
Leaders from VINCI Airports, airport users, ground staff, airline pilots… they all took the stage to talk about their operations and challenges in their own words. Local business associations and universities joined the rich discussions on how to further improve airport operations and the passenger experience.
The focus areas of the event in Gatwick included:
- Supporting airlines to reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency
- The use of AI to predict, avoid and better cope with flight disruption
- Better ways of travelling with baggage, including checking luggage in at home and delivering it to a passenger’s final destination – making airport journeys ‘baggage free’
London Gatwick Airport is an innovation centre of excellence for VINCI Airports: it has a role of detecting, testing and pioneering innovations which have the potential to benefit the 45 airports in the network.
The open and transparent sharing of the opportunities and challenges in airport operations as well as the willingness to discuss openly about the future of the industry is characteristic of VINCI Airports’ relationship with start-ups and the innovation ecosystem.
The objective? Develop the full potential of infrastructures to always better serve passengers.
