VINCI Airports welcomes Qatar Airways to Lyon airport with direct flights to Doha

March 9, 2023

Lyon-Saint Exupéry airport, operated in France by VINCI Airports, will soon benefit from a new direct link with Doha, the capital of Qatar and a major intercontinental hub. The announcement was made yesterday by Qatar Airways. This new route will be served by four weekly flights starting on July 3 2023.

This new route between the capital of Qatar and Lyon in France will strengthen the attractiveness of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the Lyon metropolitan area by offering its residents more options for travel, particularly to the Middle East and Asia, including Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.

This new route illustrates the commitment of VINCI Airports' teams to further connect the local region, in a context of extremely dynamic traffic recovery.

Tanguy Bertolus, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroports de Lyon, said: "This new destination from Lyon illustrates VINCI Airports' expertise in working with airlines and its contribution to the international attractivity of the territories. By expanding our network of destinations, we are proud to contribute to increasing the connectivity of the Lyon metropolitan area and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region."

Eric Odone, Vice President Sales Europe, Qatar Airways, said: "Qatar Airways is delighted to strengthen its commitment to France by announcing the launch of flights to Lyon this year for the first time. We are committed to bringing the world closer together, and France is an important market for the airline, naturally through the leisure travel market, which we experienced during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. We look forward to offering our passengers access to the more than 150 destinations we serve worldwide via Doha Hamad International Airport."

In addition to London Gatwick and Belgrade, Lyon-Saint Exupéry will be the third airport in the VINCI Airports network to welcome the Qatari airline.
