Tefé Airport

Tefé Airport in Brazil is a key gateway to the Middle Solimões region of the Amazon and is strategic for local commercial activity.
Located just 4 km from the city centre, it has a 2,200 m runway and eight aircraft stands. VINCI Airports took over operation of Tefé airport in February 2022 under a 30-year concession contract awarded by the Brazilian Civil Aviation Authority in April 2021.
At the end of 2024, VINCI Airports completed modernisation works at seven airports in Brazil’s northern region, consolidating the improvements made to airport infrastructure in the Amazon region.
This major works programme is part of the commitment made by VINCI Airports when it acquired the Amazon airports in 2021. A total of 1.4 billion reais worth of works have been carried out at the airports of Manaus (AM), Tefé (AM), Tabatinga (AM), Porto Velho (RO), Boa Vista (RR), Rio Branco (AC) and Cruzeiro do Sul (AC), to improve safety, accessibility, comfort and operational efficiency. These improvements offer a better passenger experience and stimulate local economic development by strengthening air links between the Amazon, Brazil and the rest of the world.
At Tefé and Tabatinga airports, improvements have focused on safety and environmental protection. Both airports now benefit from a new solar-powered night lighting system using autonomous LED lights to ensure safe operations. This initiative was carried out as part of an unprecedented Sandbox procedure, in partnership with the ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) and should serve to validate the performance of this innovative solution in Brazil, enabling the regulations to evolve accordingly. The boarding and disembarkation areas have also been renovated, the waste treatment stations have been examined and accessibility has been improved.
