VINCI Airports celebrates new direct route between Salvador and Santiago

March 7, 2024

Sky Airlines' first flight from Salvador Bahia airport in Brazil will land at Santiago airport in Chile on Monday July 1st. This new link between two airports in the VINCI Airports network will offer four weekly flights between the two cities.

Bahian tourists now have more international flight options departing from Salvador to plan their mid-year vacations. This is because the beginning of the 2nd semester will be marked by the launch of direct flights between the capital of Bahia and Santiago, Chile, offered by Sky Airlines. The novelty strengthens the connection between the airport in the capital of Bahia and Santiago Airport, both part of the VINCI Airports network.

Direct flights to Santiago start on July 1st, always taking place on Fridays and Mondays. The Salvador-Santiago itinerary will have four weekly flights - two direct ones and two via Montevideo. It is worth noting that Sky Airlines’ direct operations to the capital of Uruguay take place on Tuesdays and Sundays.

Without the need to make connections, the distance between Salvador and Santiago can be covered in less than six hours. Currently, Chile is the third largest source of foreign tourists to Brazil.

"The new operation offers flexibility for both longer trips and shorter ones, for example, in the case of tourists interested in just enjoying a weekend during the Chilean snow season, between June and September. This is yet another itinerary formatting that strengthens our connectivity with highly sought-after destinations", says Marcus Campos, Marketing and Air Promotion Manager at Salvador Bahia Airport.

Salvador Bahia Airport now has direct connections with two European capitals and three other Latin American capitals. Currently, the most desired destination in Brazil has a non-stop itinerary to Madrid (Spain), Lisbon (Portugal), Buenos Aires (Argentina), and Montevideo (Uruguay). The first four are already traditional destination options, while the last one was resumed at the beginning of this year.

Direct operations to the Spanish and Portuguese capitals are carried out by Air Europa and TAP Air Portugal, respectively. The companies Aerolíneas Argentinas and Gol Linhas Aéreas are responsible for the non-stop itinerary to Buenos Aires, while Sky Airlines operates the flight to Montevideo.
